What is the St Mary le Tower Christmas Tree Festival?

St Mary le Tower has been running its Tree Festival at the start of the Advent season for over ten years. It is a celebration of the life and community of Ipswich, and last year we had more than 115 real and artificial trees placed by a whole variety of businesses, charities, community groups and individuals. In 2019 we had over 3,500 visitors to the church to see the trees, visit the cafe and enjoy the events and activities which are part of the Festival!

This year, due to the COVID-19 crisis we have sadly had to cancel our real-life festival, at a time when the need for community and belonging has never been more important. Therefore we have decided to go ahead with a slimmed down virtual festival!

Check in here on Thursday 26th November for a week of festive activities, recipes to try at home, children's activities to print and enjoy, information on Christmas services and events. It promises to be an exciting week, do join us!

The schedule for the week will be as follows:-
  • An early morning post for children, with an activity to download
  • A midday article with an Advent theme for adults
  • An early afternoon Christmas themed activity for adults & young people - recipes, wordsearches etc
  • An evening post with information on music/St Mary le Tower activities etc.
Do join us online and send any photos of your baking, puzzles, children's colouring etc to socialmedia@stmaryletower.org.uk so we can share the fun on our social media accounts. We would love to hear from you!

The video below is of our 2017 Festival.

Our Festival website has a  virtual tour of a previous festival for you to enjoy, and further information on what has become a popular annual community event.
